When it comes to creating the perfect living space, we believe it’s all about quality, style, and making the most of what’s possible. That’s exactly what we achieved with this beautiful house extension in Stanway, Colchester, which was crowned Ultraframe Installation of the Month in August 2022. It's a project we're especially proud of, and we’re excited to take you through the transformation.
Originally, the homeowner contacted us to replace the roof on their existing conservatory. However, during our inspection, we discovered a significant issue. The original structure was built on footings just 100mm deep—not even close to the required depth to support a modern tiled Ultraroof.
This curveball provided an exciting opportunity to go back to the drawing board and give this space a complete overhaul. Working closely with the homeowner, we reimagined the look and feel of their conservatory, turning it into a stunning contemporary house extension.
Out with the old and in with the new! The homeowner opted for an on-trend anthracite grey frame paired with sleek 4-pane aluminium bifold doors. This design choice not only modernised the space but also created an unmissable connection between the extension and their pristine garden. Just imagine sliding those bifolds open on a summer’s day to enjoy a seamless indoor-outdoor living experience!
After removing the old structure, we dug much deeper (1,000mm deep, to be precise!) footings and rebuilt the base to the same footprint. To ensure a cohesive finish, we also matched the new extension’s brickwork to that of the existing house and aligned everything with the newly laid patio area.
The centrepiece of this transformation is the fully insulated Ultraroof, complete with two large self-cleaning Ambi Blue Sunshade glass panels. These panels are an absolute game-changer, reflecting 82% of heat while letting in beautiful natural light. The result? A warm, bright, and inviting room that feels like home, no matter the season.
Inside, we plastered the space throughout and installed sleek downlighters and additional electrical sockets to make the room as functional as it is stylish. This isn’t just a house extension; it’s an all-season retreat the whole family can enjoy for years to come.
