hup! Kitchen Extension in Burnley

As part of renovating her 1930s Burnley home, Lucy created an open-plan kitchen, dining and lounge area with an internal utility room. The lean-to extension has a tiled roof with glazed panels, white render and anthracite bifold doors.

The brief

Lucy was renovating a 1930s semi-detached home in Burnley. Its small kitchen and outside utility facilities prompted plans for a larger, sociable room with an indoor utility.

The design

The kitchen and dining room were combined with a lean-to extension. A tiled roof with long glazed panels provides daylight, including above the utility, where a pocket door saves space. White render and anthracite bifolds finish the exterior.

The result

The completed room gives Lucy space to cook, dine and entertain, with the boiler and utility facilities brought inside.
