Gerda Optima 60 door installation in Wickham Bishops
We replaced the entrance door at this new-build home on a main road with a Gerda Optima 60 door chosen for its acoustic insulation and security, complemented by acoustic glass in both sidelights and acoustic installation foam.
The starting point
A new home with an entrance that needed improving
For the owners of this Wickham Bishops home, passing traffic was making itself heard indoors. The property was a new build, but the original entrance door and the quality of its fitting were letting it down.
The problem was particularly noticeable because the house sits on a main road. The homeowners wanted a replacement that would make the entrance feel more substantial, help reduce outside noise and suit the modern property.
Why Gerda Optima 60?
Acoustic insulation, steel construction and secure locking
The Gerda Optima 60 door itself provides acoustic insulation to help limit outside noise passing through the entrance. Its sound-insulating construction was a key reason for choosing it for this Wickham Bishops home, where traffic noise was a concern. High-security multi-point locking was another important part of the specification.
For this installation, we combined the door’s acoustic insulation with acoustic glass in both full-height sidelights and acoustic installation foam around the frame. These measures were specified together to help reduce outside noise entering through the complete entrance. The white finish and glazed panels also keep the hallway bright.
For this home beside a busy road, the acoustic insulation of the Gerda Optima 60 door, acoustic sidelight glass and acoustic installation foam were specified together to help keep traffic noise outside and create a more comfortable entrance.

A quieter, more reassuring entrance
The completed entrance combines the Gerda Optima 60 door’s acoustic insulation with acoustic sidelight glass and acoustic installation foam, addressing the homeowners’ brief to help reduce traffic noise while improving security and updating the appearance of their home.
The finished door has a smooth white face, a narrow vertical glazed panel and a tall silver pull handle. Full-height sidelights replace the divided glazing of the original entrance, creating a simpler appearance within the existing grey-clad porch.
