Why this door needed replacing
The existing white uPVC front door at this Hatfield Peverel home was no longer working well and was letting in draughts. Its worn appearance also made the entrance look ready for a refresh.
We replaced it with an Apeer 70 composite door. The pink finish brings colour to the red-brick frontage, while the two tall decorative glass panels change the look of the doorway completely.
The replacement combines the homeowner’s chosen appearance with the Apeer 70’s double-rebated construction — a particularly relevant feature when replacing a draughty front door.
The details on this installation
Chrome architectural furniture gives this door a coordinated finish. The lever handle and letterplate sit neatly against the pink door, with a chrome ring knocker above.
Together with the traditional lower panels and decorative glazing, these details give the replacement a classic front-door shape with a more individual colour choice. The matching frame completes the transformation around the opening.

Made for the finishing touch
This door was supplied with Apeer’s built-in Magic Wreath Kit, and the finished photograph shows it dressed with an autumn wreath.
The system uses magnets concealed within the door’s core. The matching attachments fit to the wreath, allowing it to be displayed without drilling a hook into the door or using an over-door hanger.
The kit also includes rubber dots to help reduce movement and the chance of scratching. It is a useful detail for a homeowner who enjoys changing their wreath with the seasons while keeping the door’s finish looking its best.

A practical upgrade for a draughty doorway
A rebate is the stepped edge where the door closes against its frame. Apeer’s double-rebated design provides two sealing points: an outer seal and a secondary inner seal. This creates an additional barrier against wind and rain.
For this installation, that matters because draughts were one of the problems with the old uPVC door. The Apeer 70 combines its 70mm-thick composite door construction with that second seal to help improve protection at the entrance.
01 · OUTER SEAL
The outer seal meets the door as it closes, providing the first line of protection against the weather.
02 · INNER SEAL
A secondary seal on the inside adds another barrier to air and moisture passing through the door-to-frame junction.
03 · THIS REPLACEMENT
For this Hatfield Peverel home, the new door addresses a practical reason for replacing the old entrance as well as giving it a fresh appearance.
