hup! manufacturer case study

Gable hup! Extension in Formby

Vernon and his family reused their old conservatory base in Formby to create an open-plan living space. A cathedral-style gable window, bifold doors and glazed panels in the tiled roof bring garden views and daylight into the replacement extension.

The brief

Vernon’s nearly 20-year-old conservatory had leaks, discoloured roof panels and considerable rain noise. The family wanted a room connected to the house, with views towards their garden and pond.

The design

The existing base was retained. A gable-end cathedral window became a focal point, alongside bifold doors, a solid wall and a tiled roof with glazed panels. Removing the dividing doors connected the new space to the home.

The result

The family gained a garden-facing living area with space to gather. Vernon reports that it has become a favourite room for enjoying the outlook in changing weather.
